Colonia (released in the UK as The Colony) is a historicalthriller film directed by Florian Gallenberger, produced by Benjamin Herrmann, written by Torsten Wenzel and Gallenberger, and starring Emma Watson, Daniel Brühl, and Michael Nyqvist. The film is set against the backdrop of the Chilean military coup and the Colonia Dignidad, a notorious cult in the South of Chile, led by German lay preacher Paul Schäfer. Colonia is an international co-production of companies in the UK, Germany, Luxembourg, and France.
Principal photography began on 2 October in Luxembourg; filming also took place in Germany and Argentina. Colonia held its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Special Presentations section.[4] The film was released in Germany on 18 February , in the United Kingdom on 1 July , and in France on 20 July
Plot
[edit]In , Lena is a strong, independent and adventurous West GermanLufthansa stewardess and is in relationship with Daniel, a West German journalist and leftist activist living in Chile. Upon arrival in Santiago, she reunites with him and they spend their days in the capital peacefully.

Rolf Åke Mikael Nyqvist (Swedish:[ˈnŷːkvɪst]; 8 November – 27 June ) was a Swedish actor. Educated at the School of Drama in Malmö, he became well known for playing police officer Banck in the – Martin Beck TV series and for his leading role in the film Grabben i graven bredvid. He was internationally recognized for his role as Mikael Blomkvist in the acclaimed Millennium series and as the lead villains in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (as Kurt Hendricks) and John Wick (as Viggo Tarasov). In , he played the leading role in As It Is in Heaven which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 77th Academy Awards.

COLONIA tells the story of Lena and Daniel, a young couple, who become entangled in the Chilean military coup of Daniel is abducted by Pinochet’s secret police and Lena tracks him to a sealed off area in the South of the country, called Colonia Dignidad.
