Municipality in Blekinge County, Sweden
Olofström Municipality (Olofströms kommun) is the only landlocked municipality in Blekinge County, South Sweden. It borders to Osby Municipality, Kristianstad Municipality, Bromölla Municipality, Sölvesborg Municipality, Karlshamn Municipality, Tingsryd Municipality, and Älmhult Municipality. The town of Olofström is the seat of the municipality.
The amalgamation of the former units in this area took place in when the market town Olofström (itself detached from Jämshög in ) was merged with Kyrkhult and Jämshög.
Notable person that Olofström counts as theirs is Nobel Prize winning author Harry Martinson (; prize in ) who was born in Jämshög within the municipality.
Geography
[edit]The municipality is covered with forests and lakes. It labels itself "The southernmost wildlife in Sweden", probably because there are scarcely any forests or lakes south of the Blekinge province.
The highest point in the province and county of Blekinge, Rävabacken (,65 m), is located in the northern part of the municipality.

Olofströms Kommun
Olofströms kommun is called the southern wilderness of Sweden because of the rolling countryside and forests as well as more than smaller and larger lakes. They are not only for swimming and boating, but also very popular fishing spots. Most famous is the fishing area Harasjömåla Fiskecamp.
The nature reserves in the region are known for their dense forests and offer a nature experience that can only rarely encountered in the southernmost part of Sweden. On the lookout Valhall at lake Orlunden, visitors are provided with a view over the beautiful landscape.
You can get a close look at the former iron industry by visiting the industrial museum Ebbemåla Bruk, a former iron foundry from However, other museums also tell of the technical and industrial development of Olofström.
In addition to the main town Olofström, with almost 7, inhabitants, there are the places Jämshög (1, inhabitants), Kyrkhult (1, inhabitants), Vilshult ( inhabitants) and Gränum with approximately inhabitants.
